SYNOPSIS:
This is a full-day interactive workshop focused on how carers support GPs in the delivery of care and treatment of patients in the community. The unique and intimate relationship between carers and patients helps reduce incidents, relapses and critical events, which also supports patient adherence to GP treatment plans, quality and continuity of care for patients.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
- Describe the role of carers and the impact of caring on health and wellbeing
- Identify and describe the typography of carers within general practice
- Describe the importance of engaging carers within the regulatory framework that governs carers and patient treatment
- Identify obstacles to engaging carers
- Develop carer engagement strategies to improve treatment outcomes for patients
