Tafe NSW, Northern Sydney

SNHN continues to provide education sessions to new migrants enrolled in Northern Sydney TAFE’s Adult Migrant Education Program. These sessions are delivered by local GPs and aim to provide new migrants with practical information about the Australian Health System, including Medicare, general practice, after hours services and when it’s appropriate to visit the emergency department. TAFE sites within Northern Sydney participating include Meadowbank, Brookvale, and St Leonards.

Throughout 2016 – 2018 SNHN have worked with TAFEs, Councils and community organisations to provide GP Health Talks about accessing general practice for your health and after-hours options. Across 29 sessions, 688 participants have benefited from this healthcare information and have improved their health literacy.
