Alcohol & Other Drugs Health Services
Substance abuse or misuse is defined as the continued misuse of any mind-altering substance that severely affects a person’s physical and mental health, social functioning and responsibilities.
Alcohol dependence is the most common form of substance misuse, but any drug, including heroin, cocaine, ice and cannabis, comes into this category, as does the misuse of prescription medications, solvents and aerosols.
A range of services are available for people experiencing problematic drug and alcohol use, including detox and withdrawal services, residential rehabilitation, psychosocial therapies (individual and group therapy programs) and pharmacotherapy.
For guidance or more information please speak to your GP or a Health Professional.
