Webinar: Triage in General Practice Settings

This workshop will cover different components of triage, including basic triage principles and process (POPGUNS – Prioritisation of Patients: a Guide to Urgency for Non-clinical Staff), roles, responsibilities and limitations involved, the use of resources to assist in the triage process, managing difficult/challenging behaviour and the importance of creating practice specific policies and procedures.

  • Identify the need for robust practice ‘systems’ – policies, procedures and guidelines to support triage strategies for safe, quality care
  • Describe effective communication strategies for telephone and face to face communication, including dealing with challenging behaviours
  • Demonstrate an understanding of effective triage through discussion of case studies
