Take a Breath: Asthma/COPD Medications and Devices

Sydney North Health Network along with the National Asthma Council Australia, as part of the Asthma Best Practice for Professionals Program, invites GPs, Practice Nurses, pharmacists, Aboriginal health practitioners, physiotherapists, and other allied health professionals to a webinar on Asthma/COPD medications and devices. Debbie will cover the essentials of best-practice asthma and respiratory management for primary care health professionals.

SPEAKERS:

Debbie Rigby| Advanced Practice Pharmacist
Debbie Rigby is an Advanced Practice Pharmacist with postgraduate qualifications in clinical pharmacy, geriatrics and respiratory medicine. Debbie is a Director of NPS MedicineWise and a past National Vice-President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia. She currently works in a general practice, conducts Home Medicine Reviews and provides medicines education to pharmacists, nurses, GPs and other health professionals through her company Pharm-education. For her passion and commitment to the pharmacy profession and quality use of medicines, Debbie has received numerous awards including PSA Pharmacist of the Year, the inaugural AACP Consultant Pharmacist of the Year, and SHPA Clinical Pharmacy Award.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

GPs, Practice Nurses, pharmacists, Aboriginal health practitioners, physiotherapists, and other allied health professionals and their staff practising within the SNHN region.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
  • Identify the different classes of medications used in asthma and COPD management
  • Describe the importance of correct device technique
  • Demonstrate the correct technique for the different devices
