WEBINAR: Changes to vaping legislation and help for patients in quitting vaping

SNHN invites GPs, Pharmacists and Practice Nurses to an education event supporting covering changes to vaping legislation and help for patients in quitting vaping.  This event will include presentations on guidelines and prescribing criteria for e-cigarettes/vapes containing nicotine as well as cessation interventions for vaping/e-cigarettes in adults and adolescents. Presentations will be followed by a Q&A session.

SPEAKERS:

Professor Renee Bittoun:  Renee is a physiologist who is a clinical academic in smoking cessation and nicotine addiction for more than 35 years and is considered a world expert in the field. She is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of the international peer-reviewed Journal of Smoking Cessation published by Cambridge University and Hindawi Press and has published many articles, chapters and books on smoking cessation. Renee is currently Conjoint Professor at Notre Dame University, Australia and Professor, Head of the Nicotine Addiction Unit, Lifestyle Medicine, Avondale University, Australia.  Currently she is a consultant and teacher in tobacco treatment to NSW Health, National Indigenous Health groups, mental health groups and drug and alcohol treatment programs both nationally and internationally.

Dr Esther Han: Esther is a GP practising on the northern beaches of Sydney, a Drug & Alcohol Specialist at Royal North Shore Hospital and a Clinical Lecturer in the Discipline of Addiction Medicine, Northern Clinical School, Faculty of Medicine and Health University of Sydney.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

General Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Pharmacists and Allied Health Professionals working within the SNHN region.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
  • Describe the changes to vaping/e-cigarette legislation in Australia and how this impacts patients
  • Describe the guidelines for use of e-cigarettes containing nicotine
  • Write a nicotine prescription to be used in e-cigarettes
  • Identify cessation interventions  for vaping/e-cigarettes for adults and adolescents
COST:
There is no cost for GPs, PNs and Pharmacists working within the SNHN region to attend this training
