Webinar: Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD)

Thu 3rd August 2023 @ 7:00 pm

Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) will become available to eligible people in NSW from the 28th of November 2023. The State-wide service will be led by Northern Sydney Local Health District (LHD), with staff placed in LHDs across NSW. This webinar will give an overview of eligibility, the application process and some key pieces of information that all medical staff, care staff, and service providers must be aware of. This will include who can and can’t initiate conversations about VAD, what information must be supplied, what you must do if you are a conscientious objector, and how the whole process will work. This information is enshrined in the legislation and is important for all people working in health or care settings to know about.

We will also introduce inform of the new VAD Care Navigator service, which will be the central point of contact for medical practitioners. Care Navigators will also support terminally ill people wishing to access VAD, and their loved ones.
