Face to Face: GP Shared Antenatal Care – Genetics, Genetic Screening and Perinatal Mental Health

Tue 19th September 2023 @ 7:00 pm

Free

Local GPs are invited to this Shared Antenatal Care workshop where we will hear from two experts on Genetic Testing and Perinatal Mental Health.

Genetic Testing and Screening This workshop will cover Genetic Screening, pre-conception and in early pregnancy, non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) and Carrier screening including limitations.

Perinatal Mental Health – The perinatal period is the time from pregnancy to the first year after the baby is born. For most mothers this is an exciting and joyful time as well as a time of great change however, research tells us that between 10-16% of women will experience anxiety or depression during their pregnancy and in the months after the baby is born.

Our speakers will discuss resources to assist GPs in the provision of counsellng to patients when planning a pregnancy and in early pregnancy; including what SNHN has to offer to support GPs in this regard and how to access these services.

This training will enhance the antenatal care services that you provide for your patients.
