Face to face: Diabetes Management for Practice Nurses & Aged Care Nurses

An education program including presentations, case studies and workshops. The aim is to introduce participants to evidenced-based management of diabetes and its complications, therefore supporting the delivery of effective diabetes care in general practice.  Also suitable for aged care nurses.

Program content:
– Diabetes basics: pathophysiology, diabetes diagnosis, types, and complications
– Diabetes medications
– Blood glucose monitoring, management of hyper- & hypo-glycaemia & ketosis
– Nutrition & diabetes
– Prevention & management of chronic kidney disease with diabetes
– Diabetes in general practices and diabetes specialist services
– Case studies
– Workshops (foot assessment and self-care, glucose monitoring, injectable therapies: GLP-1 ra, insulin pens and pumps)

Cost:  free-of-charge for nurses practising in SNHN region
