Struggling with your mental wellbeing? Way2Wellness is a support line for people with mild to moderate health concerns.

You need to be 16 years and over, and living, work or attending school in one of the following Local Government Areas: Hornsby, Hunters Hill, Mosman, North Sydney, Northern Beaches, Lane Cove, Ryde, Willoughby and Ku-ring-gai

Counselling and support for people affected by the Disability Royal Commission

Relationships Australia is offering counselling and support for people affected by the Disability Royal Commission. They offer free and independent counselling and support for individuals, families and carers.

Support can be provided online and over the phone, as well as face to face.

Social Housing Services in Northern Sydney

Link Housing, SGCH and Bridge Housing with Women’s Housing Company are working collaboratively to lead the social housing system in Northern Sydney. Community housing providers, Link Housing, SGCH and Bridge Housing in partnership with Women’s Housing Company, have taken over the management and coordination of the social housing service system in Northern Sydney as the NSW Department of Communities and Justice (formerly the Department of Family and Community Services) has transferred the delivery of housing services under the Social Housing Management Transfer program.

From Feb-April TAFE are holding free* English for Employment job seeking course for migrants, that can provide qualified professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to access the Australian job market.

COURSE OUTLINE

Throughout this course, you will:

  • Improve workplace communication skills, both spoken and written
  • Develop a greater awareness of workplace culture and trends in the Australian labour market
  • Develop a career portfolio, including a professional résumé and cover letter
  • Develop strategies to identify employment opportunities
  • Prepare for job interviews
  • Develop career management skills
  • Market yourself effectively

Emergency Planning for People with a Disability

APRIL

Ku-ring-gai Council and Settlement Services International are running free workshops for people who have a disability and their families on how to prepare themselves and their home in a bushfire emergency.

In the workshop you will:

  • learn how fast bushfires can move
  • assess the strengths and weakness of your home
  • learn how to prepare your family and home for bushfires
  • develop your personal emergency evacuation plan

Dates: either Tues 14 Apr (6pm – 8pm) or Wed 29 Apr (10am – 12pm)

SNHN funded Mental Health first aid training with Principal Master Instructor Caroline Haines

APRIL / MAY

SNHN funded Mental Health first aid provider is offering several free training sessions for the community in the Northern Sydney region. Caroline is a Principal Master Instructor and is accredited to deliver the 2 day face to face Standard Mental Health First Aid course, the Standard Mental Health Refresher course, Youth Mental Heath First Aid, the Youth Mental Health Refresher course, Non Suicide Self Injury, Mental Heath First Aid for Gambling issues as well as Mental Heath First Aid for Engaging Leaders.
