WHO IS THIS WEBINAR FOR?
This session is for clinical staff working in residential care settings.
This module will support clinical staff to demonstrate leadership on best practice approaches to behaviour management and the appropriate use of psychotropic medication. It recognises the key role of clinical staff in influencing treatment decisions, outcomes and the overall approach to managing behaviour in residential care. The practical translation of knowledge gained in this module will assist care homes to meet the Aged Care Quality Standards (Standard 3 Personal care and clinical care).
At the end of this workshop participants will be able to:
Describe best practice approaches to behaviour management
Compare different types of BPSD and the degree of relevance of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions
Summarise the evidence base for psychotropic medications
Identify general principles of prescribing and advocate for review of medication
Recognise your role in providing leadership to reduce the inappropriate use of psychotropic medication
