ONGOING
DATE: The first group for 2017 is meeting on 28 February at 6pm. The GP support group meets on the last Tuesday of every month from 6pm.
VENUE: Northside Cremorne
SYNOPSIS:
GPs see many challenging complex cases, and can sometimes be unsupported in managing this. We recognise that part of looking after our patients means also looking after ourselves and developing skills to manage these “heart sink”, complex and challenging situations.
We also recognise there are few support groups specifically for this purpose in NSW.
GPs bring complex and challenging cases to discuss during the meetings, covering situations such as:
- “heart sink” patients
- substance issues
- personality issues
- anxiety, depression, psychosis
- complex psycho-social situations
- safety
The focus is not solely on the complexity of the case, but also explores the impact that managing these issues has on practitioners.
FACILITATOR: Psychiatrist Dr Joe Dunn, who provides valued specialist input.
TARGET AUDIENCE: GPs, including GP registrars.
CPD: CPD points for small group learning are available.
