Workforce Planning
Strengthening Workforce Capacity
Sydney North Health Network (SNHN) engages with primary health professionals across the region to connect healthcare services, build capacity, enhance provider wellbeing, and advocate for a sustainable healthcare workforce in Northern Sydney.
Health workforce initiatives include:
- Continuing professional development and networking events
- Digital health information and guidance
- Practice support
- HealthPathways and service navigation support
- Free listing of primary healthcare practice vacancies
- GP Registrar orientation and support
- Workforce planning and advocacy
Find a Health Service
The National Health Services Directory (NHSD), delivered by Healthdirect Australia, provides easy access to information on health services for both health professionals and community members. The SNHN Find a Health Service, linking to the NHSD, can help people navigate and locate health services in their communities.
Workforce Planning Program (WPP)
SNHN is one of 11 Primary Health Networks in the NSW and ACT General Practice Workforce Planning and Prioritisation (GP WPP) Consortium, which provides independent, evidence-based advice to the Department of Health and Aged Care on areas of GP workforce need.
Sydney North Health Network actively engages with general practice, healthcare providers and community members to gather local insights to inform the WPP reporting process and advocate for high quality GP training and support for registrars. The next step is to build on this knowledge and develop a broader primary healthcare workforce framework for the region of Northern Sydney.
