Psychological therapies
STARTTS is a specialist, not-for-profit organisation that was established in 1988. It provides culturally relevant psychological treatment and support, and community interventions, to help people and communities heal the scars of torture and refugee trauma and rebuild their lives in Australia. STARTTS also fosters a positive recovery environment through the provision of training to services, advocacy and policy work.
Description of service:
provide specialised, locally accessible, trauma informed and culturally safe psychological therapies for members of refugee communities and their families residing in the Northern Sydney PHN region. Referral to external services as needed.
Eligibility
STARTTS provide services for refugees, asylum seekers and people from refugee-like situations who have survived torture or other traumatic experiences associated with organised violence. We provide services for individuals, families and refugee communities. It does not matter how old someone is or how many years he or she has been living in Australia.

Mental Health and Suicide Prevention (Capacity Building)
STARTTS is a specialist, not-for-profit organisation that was established in 1988. STARTTS also fosters a positive recovery environment through the provision of training to services, advocacy and policy work.
Description of service:
Address suicide risk, enhance mental health literacy and access to mainstream mental health services amongst Tibetan, Ukrainian, Afghan and Iranian community members across the Northern Sydney PHN region, through building strengths and resilience and promoting self help and support. Referral to external services as needed.
Eligibility
Specific to Tibetan, Ukrainian, Afghan and Iranian participants. For those who are Refugees; Asylum Seekers; from refugee-like backgrounds and living in New South Wales.
