Train the Trainer workshop: ‘Renewed National Cervical Screening Program’

MARCH 2017

PROVIDER: Cancer Institute NSW

DATE: Saturday 29 March, 2017

VENUE: Sydney

SYNOPSIS:

The clinical management guidelines to support the renewed National Cervical Screening Program will be available in February 2017.

To support the transition to the ‘Renewed National Cervical Screening Program’, the Commonwealth Department of Health have contracted the National Prescribing Service (NPS) ‘MedicineWise’ to develop two educational products for cervical screening providers:

  1. Online training – six online modules covering a range of topics including cervical cancer, changes to the National Cervical Screening Program and understanding the screening clinical pathway. The online training modules will be hosted by NPS for two years commencing February 2017. It is anticipated that relevant Professional Colleges and Provider Organisations will offer their members varying levels of CPD points.
  2. Face to Face Practical Train the Trainer Workshop – intended for current trainers/educators in female sexual health, to integrate materials into existing training programs or deliver new workshops to health professionals. The workshop will complement the online training product with a focus on practical skills/competency, emphasising both the primary screening consultation and the collection of test samples.

The Train the Trainer Workshop will be run in Sydney 29th March 2017 and is limited to 20 places.

Prior to attending the workshop, attendees will be required to complete the online training modules – much of the workshop content will relate directly to the content in the online modules.

The online modules will be available to participants from mid-February 2017 prior to the March face to face workshop.

After participating in the workshop, participants will have access to participant training manuals to assist with conducting further training sessions for members of their organisations/professional bodies.

If your organisation currently delivers training and education in female sexual health and you are interested in enrolling in the workshop in Sydney please let us know.
