SYNOPSIS:

Safe access to technology is crucial for women so they can stay connected to their family and friends, engage with the world and get information and support. This presentation has been created by the Office of the Children’s eSafety Commissioner and WESNET, with the support from the Department of Social Services.

The workshop is for frontline and specialist staff, mainstream professionals and those volunteering in the domestic violence field. It will give participants:

  • a detailed understanding of how technology-facilitated abuse can occur and how to make changes to reduce technology risks
  • the knowledge and confidence to support women and families experiencing or recovering from this type of abuse
  • information on how to access a new phone under the WESNET Telstra Safe Connections program.
