Sending Mental Health Triage Referrals with Secure Messaging

The Mental Health Triage team are now using secure messaging to securely communicate confidential patient information with healthcare providers in the region.

To send a referral you will need to send two separate messages:

  1. Complete the Referral Form in your clinical software (ensure the K10 score is noted (this can be found on the first page under the ‘Outcome Tool Score’ section) – send via HealthLink to address: mhtriage which should already be set up in your address book
  2. Complete the Mental Health Treatment Plan – send via HealthLink to address: mhtriage which should already be set up in your address book

Within 24hrs (business days) you will receive a receipt notification from Mental Health Triage. Should further information be required you will be contacted directly.

For more information see the Mental Health Triage page on the SNPHN website.  Here you will find a list of resources, information and instructions on how to download the Referral Form templates into your clinical software.

Alternatively contact Mental Health Triage on 1300 482 391 or speak to your Practice Support Coordinator at the PHN.

It is a requirement of the ePIP that ‘the practice must have a standards compliant secure messaging capability to electronically transmit and receive clinical messages to and from other healthcare providers, use it where feasible, and have a written policy in place’.
