SYNOPSIS:
The National Cervical Screening Program Renewal
The morning sessions will provide a detailed review of the upcoming National Cervical Screening Program Renewal with unpacking of the rationale and evidence driving the changes, and consideration of issues and challenges in applying the changes in practice. The afternoon sessions will use interactive case studies to consider specific management issues with a facilitated panel discussion providing the opportunity to ask questions and assist participants to build knowledge and confidence to discuss the changes with their patients.
Areas covered include:
- Understanding the role of HPV: Prevalence and patterns, natural history of infection, types and consequences, role of HPV vaccination, HPV vaccination coverage and future developments, talking to women about HPV
- Unpacking the evidence: Australia and international – The big picture view of the rationale for the NCSP renewal
- Applying the evidence: Clinical application – screening in primary care, sample collection, dealing with women’s concerns and questions, explaining the evidence, special groups and pathways, self-collection option, management issues in primary care
