EOI: the Australian Digital Health Agency is looking for GPs interacting with My Health Record

The Agency’s Experience Design team is completing a review of clinical software to learn more about how GPs are interacting with My Health Record. Findings from the review will be used to improve usability and identify opportunities to innovate.

We are interested in observing the use of:

  • Best Practice Indigo
  • MedicalDirector Clinical 3.17.2
  • Communicare (any version released in the last 12 months).

Participating GPs will be remunerated for assisting with the project.

Our team intend to observe interactions between the clinical information system and My Health Record and common clinical workflows where My Health Record may or may not currently be used. The researchers will be guided by clinicians as to which interactions they are permitted to observe, will leave the consulting room if requested by the clinician or patient, and will remain silent during consultations.

Researchers also intend to interview practice managers, practice nurses and staff engaged in eHealth or digital health coordination within the Practice. Remuneration will be provided to staff who consent to be interviewed. Pseudonyms will be used for all participants. No personal or health data will be captured or shared as part of the project.

Ideally, we’d like to select one practice for each software vendor/version listed above and complete observations for three working days. We aim to commence fieldwork in early March and finish up by the beginning of April, so any practices that may host us during this period will be considered. Our preferred locations will be guided by PHN recommendation but should be confined to NSW and QLD.
