EOI: Fall Prevention

Join other GPs to identify older patients (65 years and over) at risk of falling and tailor management for these patients


Falls are common in older people and can result in loss of confidence, injury, disability, increased frailty and loss of independence. Do your older patients have any of the following fall risk factors?

  • Having had a fall
  • Worried about falling
  • Conditions that impact mobility (e.g. diabetes, stroke, arthritis)
  • Unsteadiness when walking
  • Clutter in the home
  • Poor vision
  • Taking multiple medications
  • Dizziness
  • Urge incontinence
GP resources and learning opportunities
  • GP and practice nurse education and resources
  • Category 1 and category 2 RACGP QI&CPD activities
  • Simple decision tool in electronic form and paper-based form
  • Connection to trained fall prevention service providers in your local area
