SYNOPSIS:

The NSW Ministry of Health is partnering with the Network of Alcohol and other Drugs Agencies (NADA), Family Drug Support and Northern Sydney LHD to deliver a Family Workforce Development project to increase workforce capacity of health services to support families and significant others. The Engaging with Families and Significant Others in the AOD sector workshop is a component of the project and aims to equip practitioners with knowledge, practical skills and best practice approaches to better engage and/or support families and significant others of people with problematic substance use.

By participating in this one-day interactive workshop, attendees will:

  • Acquire insights into family/significant other experiences
  • Gain knowledge of best practice principles and approaches to working with families from all backgrounds
  • Become familiar with AOD terminology and information that can be provided to families
  • Increase awareness about local referral pathways

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Practitioners, support professionals and other relevant personnel working with people impacted by AOD. Generalist AOD and non AOD services from the Health and NGO sector providing support to families and significant others.
