Immunisation Preparedness: Winter Wellness — Key 2026 updates

The session covers the latest National Immunisation Program recommendations for influenza, COVID‑19 and RSV—including second‑season RSV eligibility for at‑risk children—alongside an overview of current influenza epidemiology and the implications of the emerging A(H3N2) subclade K. Speakers will discuss the role of the live attenuated influenza vaccines, focusing on eligibility, administration, effectiveness, safety, and practical use in both general practice and pharmacy settings.

Nicola Steenson is an experienced Registered Nurse with over 10 years of clinical practice across Emergency, General Practice, and Public Health settings. She currently works within the Immunisation Team at the Northern Sydney Public Health Unit.
In her role, Nicola collaborates closely with GPs, nurses, hospitals, and community providers to support evidence-based immunisation practice and complex case management. Her work encompasses providing expert advice on vaccine-preventable diseases, cold chain management, and the assessment and coordination of rabies post-exposure prophylaxis.

Immunisation Webinar: Winter Preparedness 2025
This recording is designed for General Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Pharmacists, Nurse Immunisers, and Aged Care Nurses to update their knowledge on the NSW Immunisation Schedule, vaccine-preventable disease trends, and winter flu vaccinations. It will also cover the epidemiology of influenza and the rationale for prioritising certain populations for vaccination.
Additionally, the webinar will review changes in the 2025 RSV, COVID, and Influenza immunisations, describe severe clinical manifestations of these diseases, and evaluate the role of immunisation in preventing severe outcomes.
