GP Information Session: Connecting GP’s to NSLHD Virtual Care Services

Sydney North Health Network in partnership with Northern Sydney LHD, presented for GPs and their staff an information update on the Virtural Care Services available in the Northern Sydney LHD region, including winter preparedness.

The recording includes:

  • COVID and Influenza – What to expect this winter
  • Antiviral Therapy Q&A
  • Overview of the Virtual Hospital and Referral Pathway for Influenza
  • Overview of PHN initiatives:
    • Dedicated Advice line for GPs
    • Mobile GP Service WiSE Medical
    • PHN Community Support Services
  • NSW Ambulance direct referral pathway to the Virtual Hospital

Plus an open discussion on strengthening communication between Primary Health and Hospital services.

Chronic Disease Management: MBS item numbers in aged care

This webinar covers MBS allied health services for residential aged care facilities and MBS mental health services in residential aged care facilities. It includes the crucial role of general practice in facilitating access to allied health services for residents with dementia and other complex medical needs and concludes with a Q&A session.

Wendy has worked in all aspects of general practice including reception, primary care nursing and practice management, and has a strong, comprehensive understanding of al these areas. She currently manages 15 reception and administration support as well as five chronic disease nurses.

Nathan has been working as a physiotherapist in aged care for over ten years. He provides physiotherapy and rehabilitation services to residents in aged care. Nathan finds this a rewarding and essential area of practice which has a simple goal of improving quality of life of residents.

General Practice Caring for low-risk Covid-19 patients webinar recording

With COVID 19 cases rising daily and the recent NSW Health changes to how COVID positive patients will be managed, it is more likely that General Practice will be contacted to care for their COVID positive patients who are low-risk. Patients who meet the low-risk criteria on screening will be provided the option to call the NSW Health Support Line to seek further medical assistance or to contact their GP.

This webinar will describe this care pathway including local escalation pathways and is presented by Professor Simon Willock, GP; Jess Drysdale, A/General Manager, Virtual Hospital and CECC, NSLHD and Cynthia Stanton, SNHN Chief Operating Officer.
