Climate and Health Virtual Stakeholder Workshop

Wednesday 21 July 2021

Workshop Focus

The Sydney North Health Network is the first primary health network in Australia to develop a Climate & Health Strategy.

This workshop covered the following:

  • Learn about climate-health risks in our region, ‘carbon hotspots’ in primary care, and case studies of climate action projects.
  • Suggest priority actions and contribute to the implementation plan for our Strategy.
  • Connect with like-minded colleagues and community members.

Speakers:

DR KATE CHARLESWORTH (MBBS (Hons), MPH, FAFPHM, PhD)

Dr Kate Charlesworth worked as a hospital doctor in Perth and Sydney before undertaking much of her public health medicine training in the UK. In England, she worked in the NHS’s National Sustainable Development Unit, which was tasked with decarbonising the NHS and is now a world-leading program. Since her return to Australia, Kate has completed a PhD in low-carbon healthcare, and for the past three years has been the Environmental Sustainability Lead at South Eastern Sydney Local Health District. Kate is delighted to have recently joined SNHN as the Climate Risk/Sustainability Lead.
