Advanced Training in Suicide Prevention

In collaboration with Black Dog, SNPHN invites GPs and mental health professionals registered with PCCS Psychological Access Plus to Advanced Training in Suicide Prevention. Increase your skill and confidence in taking a detailed suicide history and developing a collaborative management plan to increase the safety of people planning suicide. The workshop provides practical tools for managing the full spectrum of suicide risk presentations including the acute suicidal crisis, care after a suicide attempt and assisting families experiencing suicide bereavement.

The NDIS will provide all Australians under the age of 65 who have a permanent and significant disability with the reasonable and necessary supports they need to enjoy an ordinary life. As part of this scheme GPs and other health professionals may be asked to provide evidence to support a request to access the NDIS This event will give GPs and health professionals an overview of the NDIS and increase participants understanding of the scheme including the difference between the role of the NDIS and the health care system.

Rapid ECG interpretation – ED style

Sydney North Primary Health Network (SNPHN) invites local GPs and Primary Care Nurses to build skills in the quick interpretation of ECG tracing. The 12 lead Electrocardiogram ECG remains a cornerstone of cardiac assessment and is among the most commonly ordered tests in the Emergency Department (ED). The ECG can provide clues for a non-cardiac high risk diagnosis, which we cannot afford to miss in our practice. This session, provided by Emergency Specialist physician, Dr Pankaj Arora will provide an interactive update on ECG interpretation to assist review and improve assessment of significant cardiac and noncardiac conditions in general and Emergency practice.

Following a presentation on the features and benefits of the My Health Record, a number of case studies will be explored to demonstrate ways in which the My Health Record can improve communication between healthcare providers and contribute to improved patient care. Assistance with registration for the My Health Record system will be offered to all attendees at the event. Secure Messaging between Health Care Providers will also be discussed.
