SNHN 2022 AGM and Primary Health Care Symposium: Primary Healthcare – Better Together!

Join us for the SNHN 2022 AGM and Health Professionals Symposium

This event includes an expert panel who will discuss and explore where primary care is currently, where we are heading and the importance of an integrated, multidisciplinary system.

Facilitated by Dr Norman Swan SNHN will showcase through vignettes examples of working together in Integration, Primary Care and Community.

The AGM and symposium will be held as hybrid event with the opportunity to attend face to face at the Northside Conference Centre or via live stream. There is no cost to attend this Symposium.

SPEAKERS:

Dr Norman Swan, Broadcaster and Commentator
Dr Norman Swan is Australia’s most respected health journalist, broadcaster and commentator and is in high demand as a facilitator and speaker. Norman hosts RN’s Health Report and since the COVID-19 pandemic, co-hosted Coronacast, a daily podcast on the coronavirus. Norman is also a reporter and commentator on the ABC’s 7.30, Midday, News Breakfast and Four Corners and a guest host on RN Breakfast. He is a past winner of the Gold Walkley and has won other Walkleys including one in 2020. Norman was awarded the medal of the Australian Academy of Science and has an honorary MD from the University of Sydney. He created Invisible Enemies, on pandemics and civilisation for Channel 4 UK and broadcast in 27 countries. Norman trained in medicine and Paediatrics in Aberdeen, London, and Sydney before joining the ABC.

Dr Luke Morphett, General Practitioner
Dr Luke Morphett is a local GP and graduated from the University of Newcastle. His specialist interest includes preventative health. Luke loves general practice and particularly enjoys the variety and building meaningful relationships with his patients to help achieve their goals. Luke is a Board Director for the Doctors’ Health Advisory Service (NSW & ACT) and is also a GP Liaison Officer, Ambulatory Care Centre at Royal North Shore Hospital.

Ros Knight, Clinical and Counselling Psychologist
Ros Knight is an Endorsed Clinical and Counselling Psychologist with 28 years’ experience. She runs a Private Practice in Chatswood focussed on Adults and Adolescents with a broad range of mental health issues and lives within Northern Sydney area. Ros has over her career provided leadership and sat on many advisory groups within the Psychology Industry and Mental Health sector and has a broad understanding of current issues. She is the immediate Past President of the Australian Psychology Society.

Mr Matthew Burton, Pharmacist
Matthew Burton is a passionate community pharmacist of more than 20 years’ experience. He believes that the pharmacist is an integral member of the primary health care team. As such, the pharmacist must always be accessible and provide a full service offering within their scope of practice. When it comes to primary health care, he believes that the patient must always be central to the decision process. It is Matthew’s view that a highly communicative and collaborative health care team is paramount in providing successful health outcomes.

Kerry McBride

Kerry McBride is a local practice nurse who graduated from University of Technology Sydney. Kerry is also a nurse mentor for primary health nurses and committee member of
the Northern Sydney Nurses Network. Kerry has a keen passion for Family and Children’s medicine in a community setting, running a nurse led Baby clinic at the practice she works in. Kerry enjoys all aspects of primary health care Nursing and is a strong advocate for patient care both within the practice and in the community.
