Personality Disorders – a focus on Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)

Sydney North Health Network (SNHN) invites local GPs, Nurses, Pharmacists, Allied Health Professionals and Hospital Staff to an update on Personality disorders, with a focus on Borderline Personality Disorders. There will be an opportunity for health professionals to hear about the most appropriate management of BPD from a medical (psychiatry perspective) and to hear first-hand from a consumer the impact of their treatment on their life.

Local service providers will also speak about their services available to people with severe mental illness.

SPEAKERS:

DR NEIL JEYASINGAM | PSYCHIATRIST

Dr Jeyasingam is a psychiatrist in public and private practice. Neil is the Unit Director of Northern Beaches Community Mental Health. He is a former Maudsley Research Scholar and the current head of the New South Wales Faculty of Old Age with the college of psychiatry. He is a senior lecturer with Sydney University, and is published in newspapers and journals regarding phenomenology, personality disorders, philosophy, psychotherapy His private practice is at Barangaroo.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

GPs, Practice Nurses, Pharmacists, Allied Health Professionals and Hospital staff

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
  • Recognise personality disorders with a special focus on borderline personality disorder
  • Understand use of the SAPAS-Bref in screening for personality disorders in a primary care setting
  • Outline current psychotherapeutic and pharmacotherapeutic options
  • Assessment of and responding to dependency
COST:
There is no cost for GPs, Practice Nurses and Allied Health Professionals working within the SNHN region
