Navigating the NDIS and psychosocial support for mental illness

Sydney North Health Network (SNHN) invites local GPs, Nurses, Pharmacists, Allied Health Professionals and Hospital staff to learn about how to effectively support people with mental illness to navigate support in the region.

The focus of this event will be on identifying psychosocial support needs of people who have severe mental illness, determining eligibility for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), and supporting people to apply for the NDIS. Mission Australia will also present on their new Psychosocial Support Service.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
  • Assess patient eligibility for the NDIS and complete supporting documentation for NDIS applications
  • Outline the psychosocial support needs for people with severe mental illness
  • Utilise course reference materials to map the NDIS process
  • Recognise the role of GPs and Allied Health Professionals in assisting people to apply for NDIS
  • Identify effective referral pathways and alternative support options for people with severe mental illness
