Sydney North Health Network (SNHN) invites local GPs, Primary Care Nurses and Nurse Immunisers and their staff to an update on the latest changes to the National Immunisation Program, Public Health Unit (PHU) engagement with general practice and an overview of AusVax Safety system.

Sydney North Health Network (SNHN) invites local GPs, Primary Care Nurses and Nurse Immunisers and their staff to an update on catch-up Vaccination, information on the latest measles situation in Australia and abroad, vaccination in special risk groups and an overview on travel vaccination.

This workshop will count towards Authorised Nurse Immuniser (ANI) annual education requirements.

SPEAKERS:

SALLY EDWARDS | CNC IMMUNISATION COORDINATOR, NORTHERN SYDNEY PUBLIC HEALTH UNIT

Sally is an immunisation Clinical Nurse Consultant and has worked in the public health system for 30 years. She manages a team of nurses and support personnel within the Northern Sydney Public Health Unit as well as providing immunisation education for clinicians and the general public, overseeing high school vaccination program for the Northern Sydney LHD which provides approximately 40,000 vaccinations annually.

 

DR CONRAD MOREIRA | MEDICAL DIRECTOR, SONIC HEALTH PLUS

Conrad is a public health physician. He worked for several years in Public Health Units in western Sydney in communicable disease control, immunisation and environmental health programs. He has practised in travel medicine since 2008 and is currently the medical director of the Sonic HealthPlus – Travel Doctor-TMVC clinic in Sydney

TARGET AUDIENCE:

GPs, Practice Nurses and health professionals

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
  • Identify catch-up requirements for children, adolescents and adults
  • Outline vaccine storage and cold chain management requirements
  • Assess the risk of Japanese Encephalitis and recommend vaccination appropriately
