ONLINE TRAINING: Trans-Affirming Practice – Validation and emotional support for students and patients

Sydney North Health Network (SNHN) invites GPs and Nurses to this training on Transgender Affirming Practice – validating and emotionally supporting students and patients.

Participants will learn how best to communicate with trans people, and about their unique needs. Build empathy and understanding as you consider your own lived experiences with gender, sexuality and possible bias and gain practical tips on establishing a welcoming and safe environment for trans people.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

General Practitioners and General practice Nurses working in the Sydney North Health Network region

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
  • Differentiate between gender, sex characteristics and sexuality
  • Differentiate between gender experience, gender identity and gender expression
  • Summarise priority and unique health and wellbeing disparities faced by trans people
  • Understanding and utilising inclusive and affirming language within your organisation
  • Ability to include, talk, and engage with trans people of all genders
  • Detect areas for improvement regarding inclusion within their role and workplace
  • Develop strategies and implement actions to strengthen and improve organisational efforts for trans people
  • Be able to feel confident in implementing trans-affirming practice into dayto-day work activities

There is no cost to registered participants for this training
