Become a facilitator in the GPs in Schools program. Visit your local schools to educate young people on access to primary care including improving their health literacy.

Sydney North Health Network (SNHN) invites local GPs, GP registrars and Practice Nurses to become a facilitator for the GPs in Schools Program, where you will gain the knowledge and skills to enhance the care of young people and effectively facilitate education on health and access to primary care for Year 11 students in Northern Sydney.

 

The training comprises of two compulsory workshops as below:

SPEAKERS:

DR ELANA ROSETH

Dr Elana Roseth has been a facilitator for the GPs in Schools program since its inception 17 years ago. She enjoys all aspects of general practice, with a particular passion for women’s, adolescent and mental health.

DR GILDA BRUNELLO

Dr Gilda Brunello has worked in General Practice both in Sydney and Brisbane for more than 20 years. Over this time she has developed an ever growing interest in Mental Health and young people. The GP Schools Program has been instrumental in developing this interest.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Local GPs, GP registrars and Practice Nurses

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
  • Identify the medico-legal issues and relevant laws surrounding consultations with young people and perform a competency assessment when seeking informed consent.
  • Describe effective strategies for engaging and communicating with young people.
  • Recognise key health concerns for young people and advise young people to seek help from appropriate local health services when needed
  • Demonstrate effective facilitation of a GPs in Schools workshop
