GPs in Schools ALM

Sydney North Primary Health Network (SNPHN) invites local GPs and Practice Nurses to become a facilitator for the GPs in Schools Program, where you will gain the knowledge and skills to enhance the care of young people and effectively facilitate education on health and access to primary care for Year 11 students in Northern Sydney.

Date: The training comprises of two compulsory workshops.

RACGP CPD POINTS:
This activity has been allocated 40 category 1 points under the 2017-2019 RACGP QI&CPD Program

SPEAKERS:
  • Dr Elana Roseth – Dr Roseth has been working in General Practice for 21 years. Elana enjoys all aspects of General Practice with particular interest in women’s health, adolescent and paediatrics, shared obstetric care and mental health.
  • Donna Pettigrew – Commissioning Operations Manager
  • Phillip Stone, Commissioning Project Officer, GPs in Schools Program
TARGET AUDIENCE:

GPs and Practice Nurses

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
  • Identify the medico-legal issues and relevant laws surrounding consultations with young people and perform a competency assessment when seeking informed consent
  • Describe effective strategies for engaging and communicating with young people
  • Recognise key health concerns for young people and advise young people to seek help from appropriate local health services when needed
  • Demonstrate effective facilitation of a GPs in Schools workshop
COST:
No cost for GPs practicing within the SNPHN region. GPs who complete the training and facilitate in the program will receive remuneration to reflect their use of time, according to SNPHN Remuneration Policy.
