FULLY Subsidised Black Dog Training – Dealing with Anxiety Disorders

This highly interactive workshop aims to provide GPs with a comprehensive theoretical understanding of anxiety disorders together with an extensive range of skills and strategies to better manage anxiety in their practices. Clinical scenarios form the basis of learning as participants explore how anxiety disorders arise, how they are maintained and the role general practitioners can play in addressing these effectively.

The program will assist GPs to gain further confidence and competence in the effective use of Focused Psychological Strategies (FPS)

  • 40 Accredited Activity CPD points (RACGP)
  • 4 Performance review, 3 Educational Activity PRPD (ACRRM)
  • Focused Psychological Strategies CPD (GPMHSC)
  • 1 MOPS point
  • Distinguish between normal anxiety and clinically significant anxiety disorders
  • Identify common avoidance and safety behaviours and the central role they play in anxiety disorders.
  • Employ behavioural techniques such as relaxation, mindfulness meditation and graded exposure to assist patients with anxiety disorders.
  • Challenge unhelpful cognitions and metacognitions commonly associated with anxiety disorders
  • Appraise the role of medications in the management of anxiety disorders.

$50, however this will be reimbursed to each participant by SNHN upon completion of the training. Subsidy/Reimbursement information The usual registration cost for this course is $360, however NSW Health has subsidised this training to a reduced cost of $50. SNHN will further subsidise GP participation in this training where upon providing proof of completion, participants will need to invoice SNHN to be reimbursed their $50 registration cost, for more information email rrobinson@snhn.org.au
