This course which will deliver the essential principles, skills and knowledge to maintain or restore breathing and circulation in an adult, child or infant. The course content is based on the policies and standards of the Australian Resuscitation Council.  HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Local GPs, Practice Nurses, general Practice staff and Allied Health Professionals

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

• Recognise an emergency situation and convey details of the incident to emergency services
• Legal issues and infection control
• Assessing the casualty and recognising the need for CPR
• Emergency action principles – DRSABCD
• Plan an appropriate first aid response
• External cardiac compressions (CPR)
• Adult, infant and child CPR rates and techniques
• One and two person CPR techniques
• Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• Contribute to workplace reporting of an incident and psychological impacts on self and others
