Comprehensive Management of Schizophrenia

Northern Beaches Community Mental Health Service and Sydney North Health Network invite GPs, Psychologists & Pharmacists to an education event on the comprehensive management of Schizophrenia.  Schizophrenia is a common mental health illness that predominately affects the age group 18 years to 35 years.  This session will cover the comprehensive management of schizophrenia patients in a community setting and will focus on antipsychotics, physical health and recovery management.

The session will also cover mental health, drug & alcohol services available within Northern Sydney Local Health District.

SPEAKERS:

Dr James Baee, Psychiatrist – Dr Baee is a general adult and forensic Psychiatrist based in Sydney. He has experience working with inpatient, outpatient, custodial, high secure and organisational settings. He is a conjoint associate lecturer for the University of NSW and has lectured in the formal education course for psychiatric trainees at the University of Sydney. He has a special interest in sports psychiatry, organisational psychiatry, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. He is a published author in psychodynamic psychotherapy.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

General Practitioners, Psychologists, Pharmacists

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
  • Describe Schizophrenia as a condition
  • Identify effective treatment for Schizophrenia
  • Recognise interface of care for Schizophrenia in a community setting
  • Describe what mental health, drug & alcohol services are available within the Northern Sydney Local Health District
COST:
There is no cost for GPs, Psychologists & Pharmacists within the SNHN region to attend this training
