Basic Life Support – CPR training

Sydney North Health Network (SNHN) invites local GPs, Practice Nurses, general Practice staff, Allied Health Professionals and Pharmacists to a Basic Life Support (CPR) course designed for all practice team and all primary care settings.

The evening will include DRSABCD, managing an unconscious casualty, recognising the need to undertake CPR, theory and practical CPR and operation of an Automatic external defibrillator (AED).

Norm Spalding – Registered Paramedic with APHRA, retired NSW Ambulance Paramedic and Managing Director and Chief Instructor at Medixcare.


GPs, Practice Nurses and general practice staff, allied health professionals and Pharmacists

  1. Respond to an emergency situation

– Recognise an emergency situation

– Identify, assess and minimise immediate hazards to health and safety of self and others

– Assess the casualty and recognise the need for CPR

– Seek assistance from emergency response services

  1. Perform CPR procedures

– Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with ARC guidelines

– Display respectful behaviour towards casualty

– Operate automated external defibrillator (AED) according to manufacturer’s instructions

  1. Communicate details of the incident

– Accurately convey incident details to emergency response services

– Report details of incident to workplace supervisor as appropriate

– Maintain confidentiality of records and information in line with statutory and/or organisational policies

$70 p.p. (plus GST) for members CPR Training is open to GPs, Practice Nurses and their support staff who are SNHN members. Cost for CPR training is $70 (plus GST).
