Sydney North Primary Health Network (SNPHN) invites local GPs, Primary Care Nurses, Pharmacists and Allied Health Professionals to a workshop to provide Health Professionals with information on Delirium in the elderly including Geriatric care services options for these patients in the community. This workshop will also provide GPs with advice on Recovery and Rehabilitation management of presenting foot and ankle injuries.

SPEAKERS:

Delirium – Dr Su Yen Ng, Geriatrician
Dr Su Yen Ng is a geriatrician with a subspecialty interest is in community geriatrics. She enjoys providing specialist care in homes and residential aged care facilities. She is an advocate for healthy aging and strives to optimise the independence of the elderly in the community.

Recovery and Rehabilitation – Dr David Carmody, Orthopaedic Surgeon – M.B.,B.S., F.R.A.C.S
Dr Carmody’s main interest is sports injuries of the foot and ankle. His fellowship training had an emphasis on foot and ankle surgery in the athlete. His particular expertise is in arthroscopic procedures, and surgery for instability, tendon conditions and cartilage problems, including arthritis. He also specialises in fracture management of the foot and ankle.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

GPs, Primary Care Nurses, Pharmacists and Allied Health Professionals

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
  • Recognise the symptoms of delirium and provide management and treatment options
  • Source appropriate support for people with delirium as well as their families and carers
  • Assess patients presenting with foot and ankle injuries and provide advice on injury management
COST:
No cost for GPs and health professionals practising within the SNPHN region
