Sydney North Primary Health Network (SNPHN) invites local GPs, Practice Nurses, Pharmacists and Allied Health Professionals to this training to assist in identifying patients that may require a hip replacement and to identify those that would benefit from minimally invasive surgery. The training will also provide participants understanding of the important role Cardiac Rehabilitation plays in recovery and identifying patients that this rehabilitation would assist.

  • A/PROF PAUL MINITER FRACS FAOrtho A
    An Australian trained orthopaedic surgeon with over 25 years’ experience in clinical orthopaedic surgery. A/Prof Minter is also consulting locally in Mona Vale and operating at Pittwater Day Surgery and North Shore Private Hospitals.
  • DR ANTHONY SUEN MBBS BSc (Hons) FAFRM
    A Rehabilitation Physician since 2012, Dr Suen’s areas of expertise include Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation, Geriatric Rehabilitation, Neurological Rehabilitation, Pain Management, Acquired Brain injury & Spinal Cord injury.
TARGET AUDIENCE:

GPs, Practice Nurses, Pharmacists and Allied Health Professionals

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
  • Assess & manage the history that a patient with hip disease may provide
  • Identify and recommend sensible investigation that will confirm the diagnosis and help to guide initial treatment
  • Explain the advances of the modern approaches to total hip replacement (with special reference to the anterior approach)
  • Outline and explain the benefits of cardiac rehabilitation
  • Utilise course reference materials to identify patients that would benefit from cardiac rehabilitation to assist in their recovery
  • Recognise and identify the different phases of cardiac rehabilitation and understand the GPs role in these
COST:
There is no cost for GPs working within the SNPHN region
