Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander – Youth Focused Cultural Education

Sydney North Health Network (SNHN) invites adults working in roles to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people (service providers, educators, and clinicians) to an online three module Activity Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Safety training . Over these three modules, you will gain in-depth knowledge and skills in addressing and working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, including:

• Understanding social determinants of health, and the potential impact these can have on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples broadly.
• Exploring one’s own cultural lens, and how this can impact our work with young people.
• Exploring the potential impact and manifestation of trauma in environments where we work with young people.
• The provision of reflective practice checklists.

Participants will have the opportunity to meet with our course developer, to discuss aspects of the course and explore/troubleshoot individual application of the skills and information shared.

Training Program:
Module 1: Online interactive training, completed at your own pace (60-90 mins).
Module 2: Online interactive training, completed at your own pace (90-120 mins).
Module 3: Interactive Zoom Meeting (2hrs). FOR THE ZOOM MEETING YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE YOUR CAMERA ON.

This training is limited to 12 participants.

Please note this course is funded by Northern Sydney PHN and is valued at $310 + gst per person.

YOU MUST COMPLETE ALL THREE MODULES IN THE ORDER MENTIONED ABOVE ORDER TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THE TRAINING

Eliza Pross | Director, Ochre and Salt

Eliza is a proud Yuin/Nuenonne woman, who was born and grew up on Northern Beaches Saltwater Country in Sydney.  Eliza aims to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples offering a range of education programs to providers, specifically schools working with Aboriginal students and borders and  is currently the President of the Gawura Local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group.

Eliza holds a BA (Social Policy and Psychology), Bachelor of Social Work (Hon), Master of Policy Studies (Human Services) and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
