Sydney North Health Network (SNHN) invites local GPs, Nurses, Pharmacists, Allied Health Professionals and their staff. This interactive workshop will focus on partnerships and linkages in the region with key stakeholders. There will be an opportunity to participate in an open forum regarding improving community mental health on the beaches.

SPEAKERS:

DR SAJEEVA JAYALATH | (MBBS, FRANZCP, MRC PSYCH, CCT UK) | Senior Staff Specialist & Clinical Director, Hornsby & Northern Beaches Community Mental Health Service

Dr Jayalath has special interests are in the areas of mood, anxiety disorders and medically unexplained symptoms. Dr Jayalath works as Senior Consultant psychiatrist at the RNSH. He has experience in teaching medical students and trainee psychiatrists at Cambridge Uni, Australian National Uni and USYD.

DR NEIL JEYASINGAM | Unit Clinical Director, NBMHS

Dr Jeyasingam is a psychiatrist in private and public practice. A former Maudsley research scholar, he is the chair of the NSW Faculty of Old Age Psychiatry, as well as one of the founding members of the Faculty of Psychotherapy.

EMMA BAR | GP Liasion Clinical Nurse Consultant for Northern Beaches Community Mental Health

Previously Nurse Unit Manager 1 of Manly PECC and Hornsby Adult Acute Inpatient Unity. She has an 18 year background of working in Disability and Mental Health.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

GPs, Practice Nurses, Pharmacists, Allied health professionals and their staff.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
  • Safe antidepressant prescribing in a primary care setting
  • Understand the assistance local community mental health services can provide GPs
  • Appreciate a shared care model to providing holistic support to Northern Beaches clients
COST:
No cost for GPs, Nurses, Pharmacists, Allied Health Professionals and their staff practising within the SNHN region.
