Synopsis
Objectives:
- To be able to assess the burn patient including burn depth and size
- To recognise, stabilise and transfer burn patients meeting referral criteria to burn units.
- To be able to manage the minor burn patient in local environment including applying and managing wound care
Presenters:
Louise Nicholl CNC – Burns Service Children’s Hospital Westmead
Stephanie A’Court CNE – Burns Service Children’s Hospital Westmead
Louise has over 30 years’ experience, working at Concord Hospital for 14 years in Burns, Plastics, Head and Neck as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and at the Children’s Hospital Westmead for the last 16 years in Clubbe ward (Burns and Plastics). She has held or acted in a number of positions including Nursing Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse Educator, Clinical Nurse Consultant and is currently the Burns Service Nurse.
Stephanie has over 24 years’ experience at The Children’s Hospital Westmead working in Clubbe ward (Burns and Plastics). She has held or acted in a number of positions within the ward, including Nurse Unit manager, Burns Service RN, Clinical Nurse Specialist and is currently the Clinical Nurse Educator.
