Introduction to Eating Disorders

Sydney North Primary Health Network (SNPHN) and the National Eating Disorders Collaboration (NEDC) invite local GPs, Primary Care Nurses, Pharmacists and Allied Health Professionals to an education evening on eating disorders including screening and assessment, management and treatment, supporting patient and carers, recovery and essential elements of care, referral pathways, support services and NEDC resources.

  • Eliza Charlett, Manager, The National Eating Disorders Collaboration (NEDC)
    The NEDC is an initiative of the Australian Government Department of Health. It is a collaboration of people and organisations with an expertise and/or interest in eating disorders. Our purpose is to develop a nationally consistent, evidence-based approach to the prevention and management of eating disorders in Australia.
    Delivering training for the past 3 years on behalf of the NEDC, Eliza is passionate about raising awareness and competency amongst health, medical, community and education professionals about eating disorders prevention, early intervention and management. She has qualifications in science and education.

GPs, Primary Care Nurses, Pharmacists and Allied Health Professionals

  • Recognise and respond to the myths, prevalence, risk factors, comorbidities, and warning signs of eating disorders
  • Apply practical evidence based strategies in the prevention, early identification and management of eating disorders
  • ¬†Understand essential elements of care and recovery and implement multidisciplinary strategies to improve client / patient mental health outcomes
  • Knowledge of eating disorder resources, referral pathways and specialised support services
No cost for GPs and health professionals practicing within the SNPHN region
