DYING TO KNOW DAY IN SYDNEY NORTH

Dying To Know Day (was on August 8th and within the month of August) is an annual day of action dedicated to bringing to life conversations and community actions around death, dying and bereavement.

Did you know:

  • 75% of us have not had end of life discussions
  • 60% think we don’t talk about death enough
  • Over 70% of us die in hospital though most of us would prefer to die at home
  • Very few of us die with an advance care plan (less than 10 percent)

The number of Australians aged 65 and over will double by 2050 increasing.

It may seem frightening to think about your own mortality, or the mortality of loved ones, but building your capacity for end of life planning can help create healthier attitudes about death our need to plan while well and share our wishes with our loved ones

Sydney North Primary Health Network is partnering with specialist palliative care provider in Northern Sydney HammondCare and Northern Sydney Local Health District Royal North Shore Hospital to provide the opportunity to have those conversations!
