Arts on Prescription

Arts on Prescription

A new initiative run through Hammond Care focuses on engaging older people in a range of arts programs (including visual arts, music, dance and drama). The program targets older people living in the community with unmet health and wellness needs- for example social isolation, mental health, dementia, declining physical function. The ‘ Arts Prescription’ is used to reinforce the concept that engagement in creativity and the arts can be significantly beneficial to achieving wellness.
The program is free, runs for 8 weeks and is targeted to people over the age of 65 ( or 50 years if ATSI). There is a map attached with the current catchment area as well as the GP referral form and patient information sheet.
